A term paper is a paper that is written by students to be used for credit during a particular academic period. It is one of the most important documents required for college courses and is often the first step toward getting the degree. The term paper sets the stage for what is to happen over the course of the semester or the year.

Students should always start the term paper with a clear and concise introduction. It will be their guide throughout the entire paper. The introduction is very important because it draws the reader into the main body of the paper. While writing academic papers isn’t an exact science but it can be broken down into a handful of key elements by beginning every section with an easy and concise introduction.

Introduction paragraph. This is the time to introduce you and your topic(s). It should be a compelling argument for your point(s), but also concise and clear on your topic. You may want to include your thesis statement at the end of your introduction for more emphasis.

A term paper outline. Your outline for your term paper will include all of your main ideas and your proposed writing method. This will make writing easier since everything you’ve written can be tracked back. Objective. You must write a term paper that’s structured around its primary point(s). Each part of your study should be based around this main point(s), and all other information and supporting details should be based around the main topic. If you are writing an essay on Shakespeare, your main topic is about his life and works. The final part of your essay with a summary of the lessons you have learned from his work and also using quotes from him (and the play).).

Reference list of references. The term paper should also include a list of trustworthy sources- something like an index or reference page to your paper. The list of references will allow your reader to check whether the information you’ve provided on your research is correct and also provide an idea of the level of knowledge your research requires.
